In 2017, natural disasters cost the US more than $300 Billion. Federal and local government organizations do what they can, but they rarely offer enough in the immediate aftermath, if only because they have so many moving parts. With the cost of disasters going up every year, and the shear number of disasters rising along with the cost, more support is needed.
The Community Incident Response Foundation was created in 2018 to support disaster relief efforts. Michael O’Brien, after participating in relief efforts from Hurricane Florence in September 2018, created the foundation almost immediately.
Mike, a full-time police officer, devoted father and husband, quickly responded with the foundation’s resources after devastating tornadoes hit Alabama and Georgia in March of 2019. The foundation was able to keep the first responders and residents fed, clothed, and comfortable while rescue and cleanup efforts continued. Mike has committed what little free time he has to launch support missions when help is needed.
The Community Incident Response Foundation is a nonprofit organization. Mike and his neighbors, Joe “Chef” and Danyale Kelley, fund the foundation with donations and their own capital. They need your help to continue providing support to devastated communities. Click the links below to learn more about the foundation and what you can do to be a part of it!
